How I organize a vintage style wedding

In Maryland, between the hills and the plain full of fields and rice fields, I found the perfect combination of landscapes, structures, the atmosphere that reigns and one of my favorite styles for the preparation of the wedding.

How I approached this style

I’ve always had a passion for objects that have a story to tell, it’s stronger than me.

My husband and I have fun discussing this because I would spend my days among the antiques markets, while he prefers objects with a modern and ultra-colorful design.

After a few years of experience in my sector and after having been able to experiment with various types of set-ups, I naturally oriented myself towards what satisfies me most, amuses me and represents me.

What you need to set up in a vintage style

What I like most about this style is being able to mix many elements with each other, oscillating in multiple declinations (such as the cousin ” Boho style “, different for some things but similar for others), because there are more genres depending on the era of belonging (20s – 50s – 70s).

The “highlight objects” that I use often and willingly are:

  • typewriter
  • phone
  • gramophone
  • books, papers and old postcards
  • tin cans and bottles
  • cameras

and in addition to objects, I really like to recreate sets with pieces of furniture such as armchairs, rugs, bedside tables, mirrors and trolleys.

Risks to avoid: too much is good

I am not a “total-vintage-addicted” in the sense that my life is not all like this: I don’t just wear long rust-colored skirts, or lace and lace, nor do I have a retro haircut, indeed, I love everything that glitters, I go crazy for everything that is golden, yet there is something inside me that makes me fascinated by everything that bears witness to a past life.

In fact, from the photos of the weddings that I make you can see it.

Maybe it’s because I don’t like to exaggerate, I always tend to dose well the style, a theme or a color, so that it is not heavy, neither in the personal aspect, nor in the design of the wedding.

How to recreate a vintage atmosphere

  • I told in this previous post how the style must be present – although in my opinion well measured – even with everything else (location, flowers, dresses,…).
  • Vintage is therefore not a collection of ancient objects placed here and there.
  • It is a very delicate style, which must be taken care of, but pretending to do it in a casual and sometimes almost “messy” way.
  • As always, before taking action, a precise design can help you, through a moodboard or, why not, a personalized consultation.
  • Try to evaluate these two hypotheses, even with the preparations underway, and find out what I created with my couples for their wedding day (vintage).
